Is it possible that I can't be forgiven?
"Sure, Jesus offers to forgive my sins... but what if I've done horrible things? What if I've made a real mess of my life, hurt other people, broken promises and vows?
What if I've gone too far? Is it possible that what I've done is so bad, I'm unable to be forgiven?"

Read the following passage, and look for the words "But if from there..."
After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time—if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God and provoking him to anger, I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed. The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the LORD will drive you.
There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell. But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deut. 4: 25-29

Course member Dennis wrote, "When we do seek Him, he earnestly rewards us. I was alienated from the blessing of God, because I refused to seek Him. I grew bitter because I wanted the rewards, but rejected a life of faith for a life of sin."
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Dennis wrote, "I was bitter that he would not bless me, but the truth was - I would not seek him. I refused to ask. What a miserable man I have become. I have no fruit to show for my years of salvation.
My ground is all thorny and overrun with the weeds of lust and porn. I have become a disgrace. Only Jesus could save me from the sins that bound me.
I asked, I sought, and I have found Him faithful. My great prayer is to overcome and help my children avoid the same sinkhole of sin."
Friend, there is no sin that God will not forgive, if we seek Him wholeheartedly about it. This is serious business—no half-hearted seeking of the Lord will do.
Eternity is at stake. Hell is real. Let us seek Him while He may be found, and we will rejoice in His forgiveness, love and acceptance.
46 When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to his own land, far away or near;
47 and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their conquerors and say, We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly;
48 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive, and pray to you toward the land you gave their fathers, toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name;
49 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
50 And forgive your people, who have sinned against you; forgive all the offenses they have committed against you, and cause their conquerors to show them mercy;
51 for they are your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out of Egypt, out of that iron-smelting furnace. 1 Kings 8:46-51

47他们若在掳到之地想起罪来,回心转意,恳求你说,‘我们有罪了,我们悖逆了,我们作恶了’;

I'd like to once again introduce you a few relevant writings of the Puritans. The first is from a Puritan pastor, giving practical counsel to someone in his congregation:
"I DO NOT and cannot forget you; and though it is very late, I have to write you a few lines to say, Follow on to know Jesus. I do not know if you can read my crooked writing, but I will make it as plain as I can.
I was reading this morning, Luke 2:29, what old said when he got the child Jesus into his arms: Now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: for mine eyes have seen thy salvation. If you get a firm hold of the Lord Jesus, you will be able to say the same.
"If you had died in your ignorance and sin, dear soul, where would you have been this night? Ah, how shall we sufficiently praise God if He really has brought you to the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!
If you all are really brought to Christ, it will be something like the case of the wise men of the East (Matt. 2). When they were in their own country, God attracted their attention by means of a star. They followed it, and came to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? ...for we are come to worship him.
Herod and Jerusalem were troubled at the saying. No one was seeking Christ but the wise men. The world thought they were mad; but soon they saw the star again, and it led them to the house where the infant Saviour lay, His robe of state a swaddling band, His cradle the manger.
Yet they kneeled down and called Him, my Lord and my God, they got their own souls saved, and gave Him gifts, the best they had, and then departed into their own country with great joy in their hearts, and heaven in their eyes."
"So it may be with you. The most around you care not for Jesus. But you are asking, Where is He? We are come to be saved by Him. None around you can tell. They think you are going out of your mind.
But God is leading you to the very spot where the Redeemer is a lowly, despised, spit upon, crucified Savior. Can this be the Savior of the world? Yes, dear soul; kneel down and call Him your Redeemer.
He died for such as you and me. And now you may go away into your own country again, but not as you came. You will carry with you joy unspeakable and full of glory." Memoirs of McCheyne
"Here observe, First, that whatever place we are in we may thence seek the Lord our God, though ever so remote from our own land or from his holy temple. There is no part of this earth that has a gulf fixed between it and heaven.
Secondly, those, and those only, shall find God to their comfort, who seek him with all their heart, that is, who are entirely devoted to him, earnestly desirous of his favour and solicitous to obtain it.
Thirdly, afflictions are sent to engage and quicken us to see God, and, by the grace of God working with them, many are thus reduced to their right mind, "When these things shall come upon thee, it is to be hoped that thou wilt turn to the Lord they God, for thou seest what comes of turning from him; see Dan. 9:11, 12.
Fourthly, God's faithfulness to his covenant encourages us to hope that he will not reject us, though we be driven to him by affliction. If we at length remember the covenant, we shall find that he has not forgotten it." Matthew Henry
"Some of you may have seen how short life is in those around you. Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? How many friends have you lying in the grave!
Some of you have more friends in the grave than in this world. They were carried away as with a flood, and we are fast hastening after them.
In a little while the church where you sit will be filled with new worshipers, a new voice will lead the psalm, a new man of God fill the pulpit. It is an absolute certainty that, in a few years, all of you who read this will be lying in the grave.
Oh, what need, then, to fly to Christ without delay! How great a work you have to do! How short the time you have to do it in! You have to flee from wrath, to come to Christ, to be born again, to receive the Holy Spirit, to be made meet for glory.
It is high time that you seek the Lord. The longest lifetime is short enough. Seek conviction of sin and an interest in Christ. Oh, satisfy me early with thy mercy, that I may rejoice and be glad all my days." Memoirs of McCheyne

To clarify what the first accountability question means, we have included the following explanation.
What does "feasting" mean?
"Feasting" is more than just reading the Bible; it is a term to express the nourishing of our souls in Jesus Christ. It means that we are sitting at the feet of Jesus, hearing His Word and believing it, for the purpose of implementing the truths into our lives. It means we are receiving spiritual nourishment and we are delighting our souls in His grace and truth.
This may be done in reading our Bibles, hearing God's Word preached, interacting with others in the Scriptures, and studying through this course, etc. This definition is at least a start; further explanation is included in the lessons.
Have you been feasting on God's word?
Yes是 No 否
If so, when was the last time you feasted? And how? In other words, how did you enjoy God? Reading? Prayer? Worship? Fellowship? Witnessing?
These next, tough, accountability questions apply to the entire period since you did your last lesson.
Were you free from pornography since you did the last lesson?

Yes是 No 否
Were you free from sexual immorality since you did the last lesson?
Yes是 No否
If you answered "no" to any of the above questions, tell us what led to your fall. If you answered "yes" to the above questions, you may use this area for questions or additional comments.
