Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May.

In North America, Mother’s Day is a holiday.

    在北美，母亲节是人人庆祝的节日

It started out as a national holiday for Americans.

    最起初，这仅是美国的节日

And later became an international holiday.

    后来，慢慢演变成为国际性的节日

This is the day we honor our mothers.

    这天是尊崇我们母亲的日子

And we celebrate motherhood.

    也是庆祝所有身为母亲的妇女

Listener friends, do you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Each and every one of us is special and unique.

    我们每一位都很特别，很独特

God knits us in our mother’s womb.

    神在母腹里造了我们

And He loves and cares for us through our mothers.

    通过每一位母亲，神彰显了祂对我们的爱和关怀

Mother’s Day is a special occasion.

    母亲节是个特殊的节日

Many people send a card to their mother.

    许多人会寄出母亲节卡片

While others will call their mothers on Mother’s Day.

    有人则会在当天打电话,祝母亲节快乐

A lot of people will buy a gift for mothers.

    更多人会买礼物送给母亲

Or, take their mothers out to eat.

    又或者，带母亲外出饮茶或吃饭

As a matter of fact,

    事实上

Mother’s Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants.

    母亲节当天向来是餐馆酒楼全年最繁忙的一天

It is also the busiest day of the floral shop

    也是花店最忙的一天

So you’ll see and smell flowers everywhere.

    你到处都可见到及闻到花朵呢！

Every mother is different.

    每个作母亲的都各自不同

But there’s one trait which is the same.

    但是她们都有一个共同的特性. Mark, I know.  That is: love.   Mothers     always love their children, no matter what. 这一个所妈妈共同的特性, 应该    是”爱” 吧.每一个妈妈都是爱她的儿女,不管如何.

Surely love is one trait of all mothers.  But the one trait I was going to say is: worry.  Mothers always worry about their children.

    原来你想强调妈妈的一个共同特性,就是担忧. 作妈妈的总是担忧儿女.     That’s true too.

Next, we bring you today’s Everyday Dialogue.

Jessie is a freshman at college.

    Jessie 是大学第一年班的学生, freshman

Her mother is wondering how she is doing.

So, she gives her a call.

    所以就打电话给Jessie

Let’s listen in to their phone conversation.

Hello Jessie.  This is mom. How are you?

Hi, mom.  I’m doing fine.

Have you been eating well at school?

Oh yes.  The food in the cafeteria is great.

How often do you do your laundry? Do you clean your room?

Mom, don’t worry about me. I am not a kid any more. I know what to do.

Also, do you keep your good manners?  Remember what I’ve always said?  “A lady is a lady...”

    还有，你有没有保持该有的礼貌？还记得我常常对你说的话吗？“一个淑女…”

I know.  “A lady is a lady wherever she goes.”

    我知道。“一个淑女，不论人在哪儿,都要是个淑女”

Well, don’t forget about that. 

    嗯，可别忘了这一点

I won’t. I’ll try my best. Thanks for calling.

Wen-Jie, most children do not like nagging from their moms.

    多半作孩子的，不喜欢妈妈总是啰啰嗦嗦的

But once they are away from home.

They kind of miss that nagging.

Jessie should know her mother loves her.

    Jessie应该明白妈妈很爱她

I think Jessie is going to turn out just fine.

Now, let’s review the Everyday Dialogue once again.

Mother: Hello Jessie.  This is mom. How are you?

Jessie:  Hi, mom.  I’m doing fine.

Mother: Have you been eating well at school?

Jessie:  Oh yes.  The food in the cafeteria is great.

Mother: How often do you do your laundry? Do you clean your room?

Jessie:  Mom, don’t worry about me. I am not a kid any more. I know what to do.

Mother: Also, Do you keep your good manners?  Remember what I’ve always said?  “A lady is a lady...”

Jessie:  I know.  “A lady is a lady wherever she goes.”

Mother: Well, don’t forget about that. 

Jessie:  I won’t. I’ll try my best. Thanks for calling.

The Bible teaches us to honor our parents.

    圣经教导我们要孝敬父母

This is a command by our heavenly Father.

    这是我们天父的命令呢.

To honor parent, that is to show them respect.

    孝敬父母的意思, 就是也就是要尊重他们

Take to heart what they had taught us.

    要记住他们的训诲

And as adults, we are to care for our parents.

    特别作为成年人儿女，我们要照顾父母亲

We can show our love in kind words and deeds,

    在仁慈的言语行动上，我们能表达对他们的爱

Remember what our Savior Jesus Christ did?

    还记得我们的救主耶稣基督吗？

When he was young, he obeyed his earthly parents.

    当他年幼时，他顺服地上的父母亲

Even when Jesus was dying on the cross,

    甚至当耶稣在十字架上要断气时

He entrusted his mother to his disciple John.

    他也把母亲托付给门徒约翰照顾

What an example Jesus gave us.

    耶稣给了我们值得效法的榜样

So do something for your parents today.

    所以，今天就有所行动吧   

The Bible says: Those who honor their parents,

    圣经上说，那些孝敬他们父母的人

God promises to shower his blessing on them.

    神应许要赐下福气给他们
